Laura Baer is a highly accomplished creative director, with experience in the top echelon of the editorial design world. She is skilled at creating high-impact visuals that surprise and delight while clearly communicating information. She has a collaborative style and values getting work done on time, on budget, and without drama.
For the past seven and a half years, Laura was the creative director at New Jersey Monthly where she designed over a hundred covers, produced myriad photo shoots, and redesigned the magazine twice. Prior to that she was consulting art director at Good Housekeeping magazine, and the art director for Your Good House, a lifestyle supplement of Good Housekeeping. She has held top art director positions at Prevention, PC Magazine, CIO Insight and Business Week, where she managed the art, photo and production staffs. She has consulted on numerous publications including Parents and Weight Watchers, and designed communications materials for several national non-profit organizations.
Laura’s work has been honored with awards from the National Magazine Awards, the Society of Publication Designers, Folio, the Art Director’s Club, The American Society of Business Publication Editors, and Print magazine. She has also served as a judge for the National Magazine Awards (photography) and The Society of Publication Designers.
